Nearly perfect, but I watch videos at night with the lady next to me trying to sleep and even with headphones the minimum volume is noticeable to her and the minimum screen brightness is quite bright. Not really something you complain about too often, but if anybody was asking…

I bought the refurbished version at a significant discount from New, 79.99 and could not be happier with this thing. The one I received doesn’t appear to have even the slightest physical blemishes and battery has lasted 3 days with moderate to heavy screen time. Performance is great for what I’m doing with it.

I will say you should absolutely Google how to install the Play Store and do so, get access to so much more and some pay apps on amazon app store are free on play store. I wanted this to use for kindle and comics and both work great. I have big hands so the 10″ model is also perfect.

Overall, if you want a tablet for normal everyday use, like web surfing and reading, you should not be disappointed with a fire tablet.

These Amazon tablets really are the best AFTER you learn how to convert it to Android proper (Yes, FIRE is a form of Android but it does not behave the same). You can look up how to convert these on the internet and it may be a little complicated for some to most but it will be worth it in the long run. You also have to pay Amazon to have the ads removed (and they are a non-stop avalanche of ads!). I also bought a 1TB mini-SD card which makes this bigger than my laptop computers! Not happy with the stock tablet but very happy with the finished product!!!

This is our 6th kindle (sucker mom) we’ve bought for our 6 year old. Finally got smart and bought the protection plan. These have withstood a hurricane, numerous road trips, flings off the top bunk bed, and more bbq sauce than a tablet should be forced to deal with.

Picked this up for my mother on Amazon sale day. We got 3 of them a few years ago and last year hers finally died, just wouldn’t hold a charge any more. It was several years, daily or almost daily use, she got her money out of it. What she really missed when it died was reading the Washington Post, so I agreed to pickup a new one for her. Decided on the refurbished. I have gotten a few refurbished products over the years, and Amazon does a very good job with it. Apart from coming in a different box than I think other fires came in, this was the same. Turned it on, booted right up to my account, quick, easy, ready to go. I took off a bunch of stuff she would never use, had my son do some reorganization on the desktop for her, added a few things I knew she would use, and it was ready for her.

She loves it. Every morning she reads the Washington Post (the only paper she now gets), she has her zoom programs she will do on it, sometimes reads a book or listens to one, but mostly for the paper, and her solitaire card games. She is in her 80’s, still has a desktop, but uses that for “work” (banking, reading e-mails, etc…), the Kindle is more for her fun things. The battery life has been most surprising for her. Of course her old Kindle used battery a lot faster, and eventually got to where she had to charge it, and might get an hour of use unplugged, until it totally died. This one, she read the paper 3-4 days while I was visiting, and the day I left said “You have to show me how to charge it, I can’t believe I haven’t need to charge it yet, but will someday.” After 3-4 hours of light use (a couple hours in the morning, and then letting it sleep the rest of the time) she was still at over 50%. Screen is brighter, it is a bigger (she had a 7 or 8 inch before). She did say it was heavier, but she really just carries it from one room to another, I don’t think she has ever left the house with it.

So my 80 year old mother gives it 5 stars, and if she is happy, so I am, so I also give it 5 stars for making her happy. Good device.

I use this mainly for reading books and working on crochet patterns. My nieces and nephews do have games on it. It’s lightweight. Nice color. Videos play fine from apps like Disney+ and Netflix. You can’t play games from the apple store or play store, you have to use Amazon store. If you’re letting a kid use it, you might wanna set up parental controls or make them their own screen, it is quite easy to purchase some things. Sometimes apps close suddenly so always back up your work regularly. I’ve had no real problems with this and I’ve had it for over a year now. Good midrange tablet. It’s not gonna run like an iPad but it’s great for my price range.

Edited and upgraded it to 5 stars:
Price is good, and my intended use was mainly Kindle book reading so I was annoyed, but not stopped by the limitations. Very limited selection of apps to download “from the Amazon App Store”, WON’T download Chrome which really annoys me! This tablet is just a medium intended to sell Amazon stuff, not open source access to the Android world.
BUT! Google and you will find a way to make it more Android like that is not too risky or difficult. HINT If you get an error message installing the Playstore APK – I used the version 10+, which is supposed to be right, BUT for this step I had to download the older version 5+ APK.

I selected it as a way to read my ebooks, based on price, since the tablets I have been using for 15 years are “unavailable”. And trying new “off brand Chinese stuff” is general a fail. After making it more “Android like” it is now doing all that my old tablets did, a lot faster and with much more battery life.

Fairly light weight, bright, battery life is good. Speed is much better than my 3-4 year old tablets. Glare on the screen is bad until you smear it up with your finger grease (not usable under over head lights or with a window behind you) much worse than my other tablets.

Personal whine – the edges are more rounded than my other tablets and it is harder to hold.

Edit – Bought a second one and it works as great as the first.

I recently acquired the Certified Refurbished Fire HD 10 tablet, and I must say, it’s a fantastic budget-friendly alternative for anyone in need of a reliable tablet. This refurbished device offers a great value for the price, with its impressive display, long-lasting battery, and ample storage options.

Certified Refurbished Assurance: One of the standout features of this tablet is its “Certified Refurbished” status. It’s reassuring to know that the device has been thoroughly tested and certified to look and work like new. Plus, it comes with the same limited warranty as a brand-new tablet, providing peace of mind for buyers.

Long-Lasting Battery: The Fire HD 10 tablet boasts a 12-hour battery life, which is impressive for a device in this price range. Whether you’re using it for work, entertainment, or browsing, you can rely on it to last throughout the day without needing constant recharging.

Ample Storage Options: With 32 or 64 GB of internal storage, this tablet provides enough space for your apps, documents, photos, and videos. If that’s not enough, you have the option to expand your storage by up to 1 TB with a microSD card (sold separately), ensuring you’ll never run out of space for your digital content.

Vivid Full HD Display: The 10.1″ 1080p Full HD display is undoubtedly one of the tablet’s highlights. It offers a vibrant and crisp visual experience, with more than 2 million pixels. The fact that it’s 10% brighter than the previous generation makes it even more appealing for media consumption, reading, and web browsing.

Affordable Price Point: This Certified Refurbished Fire HD 10 tablet provides exceptional value for its cost. It’s an affordable option for individuals and families who want a reliable tablet without breaking the bank.

Amazon Ecosystem Integration: If you’re already immersed in the Amazon ecosystem with Prime membership, Kindle books, or other Amazon services, this tablet seamlessly integrates with them, enhancing your overall experience.

The Certified Refurbished Fire HD 10 tablet is a solid choice for those seeking a budget-friendly tablet that doesn’t compromise on quality. Its Certified Refurbished status ensures reliability, the long-lasting battery is perfect for all-day use, and the bright Full HD display enhances your viewing experience. While it may not have all the bells and whistles of premium tablets, it offers exceptional value for the price. Whether you’re using it for work or play, this tablet is a practical and cost-effective solution that deserves consideration.

For $70-$80 it is really worth it if the only things you’ll do is media consumption, some web browsing or email checking. Battery lasts a good amount of time. Would not recommend it at its full price.

The only thing to keep in mind is that the tablet seems to only charge at a max of 5W (regardless of charger used). This just means it will take a very long time for this tablet to fully charge.
